First is was Harris English making a long birdie putt on 18 to take over the lead. Then came Kramer Hickok playing in the final group to also make a birdie on 18 to tie English and send the event into a playoff. The playoff was anything but standard as they battled for 7 holes matching pars all the way. Both had the opportunity to win with a birdie putt only to miss relatively easy putts. Then came the 8th playoff hole. Hickok missed his birdie attempt but English did not for the win at the Travelers Championship. This was the 2nd win for English this season and 4th overall.
The women were at the Atlanta Athletic Club for their 3rd Major of the year – KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. 22 year old Nelly Korda put on a show for her first Major win posting a -19 for a 3 stroke win over her playing partner Lizette Salas. With the win, Korda now takes over the #1 rank in the world. Korda also won the Meier LPGA Classic last week and the Gainbridge LPGA event earlier in the year.
