Congrats to Francesco Molinari who out played about a dozen golfers on Sunday to hoist the Claret Jug at Carnoustie. He became the first Italian to win a Major. Despite being near the bottom in the fairways hit statistic, he methodically managed his way around the windy course to produce a final round 69 to win by two strokes over Kevin Kisner, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele. He birdied the 18th hole to finish at minus 8 and play a bogie free weekend. There were 9 golfers who held at least a part of the lead at sometime on Sunday only to falter down the stretch other than Molinari.

The PGA Tour was at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky. After a thunderstorm delayed the finish of the event until Monday, Troy Merritt was the winner with a -23 to finish a stroke ahead of Billy Horschel, Tom Lovelady and Richy Werenski.  One other note from the event was the appearance of Brittany Lincicome in the event via a Sponsor’s exemption. She did not make the cut after a rough first round 78. She did play the second round at a 1 under 71.
